Hispanic Leadership Coalition of Northeast Indiana (HLCNI)
BECA / SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM available January 1 - March 15
A major aspect of HLCNI’s mission is the education and professional development of our Latino students in Northeast Indiana. To accomplish that goal, HLCNI engages in several community initiatives. Among these initiatives is the “Beca HLCNI” program; which annually awards several scholarships to deserving students from our region pursuing higher education degrees at accredited colleges and universities in Indiana. These scholarships are awarded at our annual “Noche de Gala” fundraiser, usually during the month of April. As of February2016, HLCNI has awarded 85 scholarships through this program to further the education of our Latino youth.

HLCNI/Questa Scholars Program: Available March 1 - May 1
In an effort to assist Hispanic students from low, moderate and middle income families where there is a gap between the cost of attendance and the family’s financial responsibility, HLCNI is partnering with Questa Foundation to offer a $5,000 per year, low-interest forgivable loan program.Recipients of this award will have 50% of their loan forgiven should they decide to live and work in one of the 11 counties of Northeast Indiana for 5 years after graduation. An additional 25% is forgiven by the college upon graduation for students attending one of our partner schools (Grace College, Huntington University, Indiana Tech, Indiana Wesleyan University, IPFW, Ivy Tech, Manchester University, Trine University, and University of Saint Francis). In total, 75% (and possibly more) of the loan could be forgiven.
